David A Stubbs II

David has been recognized as one of the most important industry leaders in establishing physical solutions for the next generation of educational environments. He has won numerous awards from local and national organizations including A4LE, IIDA, USGBC, and the EPA.

While a public education employee, he designed Shift+, the first holistic and reconfigurable array of educational furniture components, in partnership with VS America.

Shift+ continues to be instrumental in transformations within educational environments worldwide.

DSD continues to enhance and create new designs for the marketplace

“David is an innovator. Like many innovators, his secret sauce seems to be unearthing a need that others overlook. He combines this innovator’s mindset with an architect’s design eye to create unique and beautiful solutions.”

David is a member of the design team for Reimagine America’s Schools, an initiative of the National Design Alliance.

A nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting cities and schools through change and transformation with the generous support of Schmidt Futures.

David is truly passionate about the holistic design of all educational spaces and is developing research with university partnerships, creating MakerCulture solutions, developing new educational tools from various market segments. He continues to lead the educational community with valuable insight on how to bridge the gap between curriculum/instruction and the built environment – truly creating agile environments.

Author of the children’s book, “P.B. Disrupts School!”, one can clearly see David’s passion to speak to concepts of acceptance and inclusion.

Understanding that we all need the ability to “find our right fit” within our environments as we become more familiar with the concept of space.
